Background

Taranaki DHB is introducing an improved and modern Community Oral Health Service for:

There will be six community clinics and three mobile dental units to service schools in Taranaki.

Using funding from the Ministry of Health provided as part of the implementation of the strategic Vision - “Good Oral Health for All for Life”, Taranaki DHB is introducing a Community Oral Health Service that will focus on providing oral health care in ways that meet the needs of parents and children.

This new service will provide a full range of services from oral health promotion to the building of up-to-date oral health clinics. These hub clinics will be supported by mobile dental units that will provide care for children and adolescents.

Families are encouraged to visit together to receive dental care.

The focus areas for the DHB Community Oral Health Service are:

• Increased participation - preschoolers and teens
• Improved access to services
• Ensure everyone gets good oral health services

Community based Oral Health Services will be available all year.
