Intensive Care
High Dependency Unit
Coronary Care Unit

Taranaki DHB enjoys a state-of-the art Intensive Care, High Dependency and Coronary Care Units. The 16-bed facility contains treatment and isolation rooms as well as two Intensive Care, four Coronary Care and eight High Dependency beds.

Features of the unit include the monitoring system that assists staff in delivering a thorough around-the-clock watch over all patients and improved privacy for patients in all areas.

A new monitoring system for the Intensive Care and Coronary Care beds allows full bedside monitoring with information delivered to a central workstation for remote monitoring. The patient information gathered by the bedside monitors is accessible in theatre so specialists and anaesthetists can follow the condition of patients. The eight High Dependency beds utilise the system currently used to monitor ICU beds.

Ceiling mounted Pods are an important health and safety feature for patients and staff. The pods provide a range of utilities such as oxygen, suction and power while they also contain features such as nurse call, emergency call, light switch and telephone outlet in an easily operated and readily accessible manner.
